On Nov 24 we’ll be attending the Annual Turkey Trot CycloCross in Verdugo Park, Glendale CA.
It’s a great bike event for the public to watch cyclists race up and down the park’s picnic and dirt paths, twist and turn across winding and straight sections of grass and mulch, maneuver a stairs section, and go through the famous Turkey Trot sand trap. If you’ve never been to a cyclocross race before, you’re missing out!
I believe for the Elite Mens race riders have to complete a total of 8 laps, and for the Elite Womens race a total of 6 laps. Each lap is approximately 3.5km in length. Throughout the day there are races sorted by various categories.
- Single Speed
- Juniors and Youth
- First Timers
Last year the course opened at 8:30 am for warm ups and a beginner’s clinic. Then at 9:00 am the races began for Juniors, Youth and First Timers.
Hector and myself will be in attendance, handing out flyers and business cards, stopping by the booths, eating morning waffles and afternoon turkey dogs.
SoCalCross hosts the Turkey Trot. It’s part of their Prestige Series cyclocross bicycle races happening in San Luis Obispo County, Ventura County, Kern County, Riverside County, Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Diego County.
