Since Fox’s newest bicycle helmet, the Rampage PRO Carbon, became available earlier this year, consumer interest continues. We believe it ranks among the best in MTB helmet design today. It’s no surprise pros like GT Bicycles Team rider Kyle Strait had a say in the helmet’s final product testing.
We would score it with high grades for each of the 5 factors to consider when buying a new bicycle helmet:
Safety: The Rampage PRO Carbon has a full carbon lightweight shell that is exceptionally strong. Their standard Rampage helmet has a fiberglass shell that is also very durable.
Style: One look at this high performance helmet says it all, don’t you think? It’s wider, sleeker, and more eye catching than other downhill helmets. You have the choice of 5 colors for the Rampage PRO: Matte Black, White, Black/Yellow, Red/Yellow, Black/White. The standard Rampage helmet is available in 3 colors: Metallic Silver, Blue/Red, Matte Black.
Fit: The Rampage PRO Carbon is available in 5 sizes: S, M, L, XL, XXL. The standard Rampage helmet is available in 4 sizes: S, M, L, XL.
Comfort: Both the Rampage PRO Carbon and standard Rampage helmet has interior cheek pads and a comfort liner made from technical, moisture wicking fabrics that are removable and washable.
Ventilation: The Rampage PRO Carbon has a total of 17 vents and channels to promote increased airflow & breathability. Doesn’t get any better than that.
At Glendale Cycles we sell the Rampage PRO, as well as the standard Rampage helmet. I personally own the Rampage PRO in the Red/Yellow color.
It continues to amaze me how bicycle helmet technology and standards continue to improve since the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) passed a law in 1999 that required any bicycle helmet sold in the United States to meet their minimum safety standards. Fast forward 15 years later and today’s bicycles are remarkably safer, lighter, and more comfortable than their predecessors.
